This was our last official stop on our way home this trip. We're outside Baltimore, on the Susquehanna River. The old rail tracks are still there, after a fashion, though there are some large washouts under them. It makes a nice linear park, like the ones we've walked in Washington State and Florida.

The old Canal House

The canal ran past this side of the house, some of the locks are still in evidence.

One of the old mill wheels. The mill is open for tours weekends in the summer.
P4273258

The wheel weighed about one ton.

Some areas had been eroded away by the water, but were still passable.

Low bridge; everybody down......
P4273284

It was a gorgeous day, weather-wise; one of our better ones.

This was a flower I'd only seen in books up until now; Dutchman's Breeches.
P4273293

A really gnarly old tree at the end of the path. Beyond here, it was so eroded that there was no where to step and the way was blocked by trees, intentionally placed across the rails.

The Eye in Baltimore Harbor.
