Rich; our 90 year old friend whom we met on our AK trip

Cate, 83, his wife. They live in N.C.

Sadie, their dog, who was a pup on our AK trip

and Fred, their cat, who didn't make the trip at all.

In Pensacola, FL, there was a Long-Eared Owl and it's young one on a nest on one of the campground trails. I've never seen a young owl before.

The baby proceeded to give us baby owl butt as it settled down to sleep again.

Unfortunately, when we hiked back the next day, the parent Owls were sitting in the trees; then they flew away. We looked again the next day, but the nest was abandoned. Either the baby fell out or it was taken by an Eagle that was nesting nearby.

OK, I had trouble loading this pic and then it came in twice! We took an afternoon and our I.D. and went to the nearby airbase.

We climbed the 177 steps to the top of the light.....

Many states have statues sponsored by various businesses of different animals (real or imaginary) displayed permanently around towns. The airbase had 2 pelicans; this one depicts the lighthouse.....

and this one depicts Germany.
