We took the tour of the Biloxi lighthouse, all 57 steps and a 6 step ladder at the top. Tours are only given until 9:30 in the morning, as it gets very hot inside that glass! The lighthouse is in the middle of a 4 lane road, but once it stood on the shore, which consisted of not much sand and many tree stumps. In the 60's? a 26 mile beach was constructed by pumping in sand, for tourism. The light house was built in MD and was destroyed in 2005 by Hurricane Katrina. It cost $400,000 to repair it.

I missed the top water level stripe, which documents the water deposited inside by Katrina, a devastating 21 and 1/2 feet.

Also, this was in a mall in BIloxi, constructed from the red clay dirt of MS.

Lovely sculpting, is it not?
